About this story

What happened to Theresa? The woman answering is the only one who can say, and she is not in a hurry. A windowless strip club, the stage lights still on, a cigarette shaking in her hand — she tells it the way people tell things they have decided to tell once and never again, from the first sign that the night was wrong to the point where it stopped being a night anyone could explain.

Rag Doll is hard-bitten testimony: dive-bar dread, a working woman's flat voice describing what she saw, and a revenge that arrives from a direction no one in the room was watching. The horror is in the details she notices and the ones she skips. When the music stops, it does not let go.

An original by John Sunseri, about twenty-seven minutes, directed as a single-voice audio drama inside a low-lit-club sound environment — bass through a wall, a door, ice in a glass. The text is on screen as it is spoken. Rated 13+.

How this was made

This is a full-cast production, not a single narrator reading a book. Each character has its own voice, the lines are directed for pace and emotion, and the story plays inside a live sound environment — stone echoes and a wind that finds every gap — that shifts as the scenes change. The voices are synthetic (high-quality text-to-speech, directed by people), and the words appear on screen as they are spoken, so you can read along or follow in a second language.
